This is a species found in Sri Lanka and peninsula India. It is a rare species found in the northern and Northwestern parts of the island and is synonymous with Dyschoriste madurensis.
The conservation status of this species is regarded as Vulnerable (National Red List 2012).
In Wilpattu I observed this species between Wilachchiya and Thekkama growing in an open sandy glade.
