This is a high-flying dragonfly which is also found in India, Nepal, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.
The conservation status of this species is regarded as “Vulnerable” (National Red List 2012).
This is a rare species which frequents and breeds in marshy areas and small water bodies. Like most dragonfly species they can be seen settled on the tips of reeds and dry bushes growing around their watery habitats.
In Wilpattu, I have observed this species at Kumutu Villu and Kanjuran Villu during the months of October and November.
