This is a very common species found throughout the lowland areas. In Sanskrit this species is referred to as Lakshmana. It is a highly potent herb used in Ayurveda medicine to cure sterility in women and for promoting fertility and virility.

This is a common species in Wilpattu and I have observed flowers in September, October, November and April.
