This is an uncommon species of small tree, which is found in the dry lowlands of the country. It also occurs in penninsula India.
The conservation status of this species is regarded as Endangered (National Red List 2012). It is a species protected under the Fauna and Flora Protection Ordinance as amended by Act No. 22 of 2009.
The flowers have a sweet fragrance and were in bloom in late August before the rains at Borupan Wila.
